Cabinet committee agrees to hold test of teachers in August

Punjab Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare Raja Basharat has expressed satisfaction that the numbers of new Covid-19 victims and associated deaths in Punjab have declined due to government initiatives.

He was presiding over a meeting of the cabinet committee on anti-coronavirus at the chief minister’s house on Saturday.

Punjab Ministers Dr Yasmeen Rashid, Mian Aslam Iqbal and Hashim Jawan Bakht, Punjab chief secretary (CS), Additional CS Home, Punjab inspector general of police (IGP), specialised healthcare secretary, primary and secondary healthcare secretary and heads of departments concerned were also present on the occasion.

Following a briefing on Covid-19, Raja Basharat said that precautions were very important to maintain the trend of reduction in the number of pandemic inflicted patients to completely eradicate the disease from the country. He added that safety protocols should be strictly enforced in the temporary cattle markets set up ahead of Eidul Azha.

“The administration should eliminate illegal street markets and inculcate awareness among citizens through media to ensure implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the cattle markets,” he remarked.

The law minister directed the health department to prepare SOPs for Eidul Azha prayers, sacrificial gatherings and anticipated entrance tests for medical colleges.
