The hike in monthly fees for Pakistan Television, from Rs35 to Rs100, is "an injustice to citizens," claimed Sindh Agriculture Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahoo on Saturday.
The state-run broadcaster charges a monthly fee from electricity consumers, which provides it with billions in annual funding.
Censuring the federal government over the decision, Rahoo said, "We reject the increase made during the coronavirus pandemic. The people of Sindh will not accept the increase and will stop paying electricity bills if the decision is not reverted."
He noted that citizens had, in fact, been calling to completely waive the Rs35 fee from electricity bills and remarked that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government should instead pay people to watch "their bulletin."
