Summer Hair Trends

Fun ways to style your hair in the sweltering heat

Eid in summer is often accompanied with humidity. Here are some foolproof and fuss-free hair trends for when the odds are stacked against you.

Half up twist

Turn to this two-step process hairdo when you’re pressed for time, which means you can put it together while you are en route to all SOP observed family lunch. Simply divide your hair into a middle parting, and take a small section from the right side of your crown. Twist it back and hold it in place with a bobby pin. Repeat the process on the other side to complete the look. It’s easy and chic.

Messy, textured buns

A windswept messy bun will work well for you if you don’t want a hairstyle that looks too put together. To recreate it, spritz your hair with a sea salt spray. Twist random sections of your hair into knots and secure with bobby pins. Unravel the pins after a few minutes, and tie your hair in a ponytail. Begin twisting the ponytail, then wrap it around its own base before looping it into a bun. The hairstyle will save your hair from all the frizz created by humidity.

Versatile braids

Braids always look classic with traditional Eid attire. From a messy braid to a tight fishtail option, there’s endless inspiration to play with this look. You can put the braid together with pearl clips for a classic look or 3D printed hair clips for a bohemian vibe, opt for a half-up half-down hairstyle with tiny plaits running through the lengths, or have them concentrated at just the crown area.

A textured ponytail

A ponytail incorporating a bouffant is also a great option for Eid. To create it, spray your hair with a texturising spray after blow-drying it. Isolate the front section of your mane, and then create a high messy ponytail with an elastic band with the leftover hair at the back. Divide the front section in the middle, and tease it for volume. Brush both parts back and tuck them into the ponytail, creating a lift at your crown area. Secure these in place with bobby pins, and take a small section of hair from the back to conceal the elastic band.

Side-swept waves

To accentuate a dramatic cocktail outfit, try Hollywood-style waves. All you need is a curling wand, bobby pins and your fingers. Use the iron to create large curls in your hair, and lightly comb it with your fingers once you’re done. Brush your mane to one side, and insert pins to it in place. Spritz on some shine spray to complete it.
