Cops found looting people on motorway
]ty[ (NHMP) on Friday foiled a robbery attempt on the Peshawar- Islamabad Motorway.
However, to the surprise of NHMP officials, the suspects turned out to be constables of the Punjab Police.
The NHMP in a statement on Friday said that they had received complaints that two constables of Punjab police were allegedly driving around in a private sedan with weapons. Along with some accomplices, they stop vehicles on the pretext of snap checking but end up looting people.
Subsequently, the NHMP control room sent an alert to all patrol vehicles with a description of the suspected vehicle.
Subsequently, an NHMP squad spotted the car parked on the motorway with a very small number plate and nearly illegible registration numbers, which is against the law.

When a motorway police officer approached the vehicle, he saw two Punjab Police constables and three others in plainclothes sitting inside.
When the officer found no nameplate on the uniform of the constables, he became suspicious.
He called for backup and tried to hold the accused. He succeeded in confiscating the service card of one of the constables sitting in the car before they attempted to flee. When the motorway police officer tried to stop them, they attacked the police officer and drove the vehicle at high speeds, breaking the bar of the Sangjiani Toll Plaza and got off of the motorway.
When the NHMP expanded their investigation using the seized police service card, it was found out that uniformed constables, Constable Asif Mehmood (C-1181) and Constable Mukhtar (C-2906), are currently posted in the Adiala Guard. An FIR for the entire incident was registered by the motorway police at the Taxila police station while further investigations are ongoing.
