Bangladesh's virus case-count nears 200,000
With 3,043 new cases reported on Friday, Bangladesh's case-count for coronavirus reached 199,357, according to the Health Ministry.
The death toll topped the 2,500 mark with 51 new fatalities, said Dr Nasima Sultana, a health official.
The total recoveries reached 108,725 at a rate of 54.54 per cent.
President Abdul Hamid's brother succumbed to the virus in the capital Dhaka early Friday, according to local media reports.
The death toll among physicians has risen to 70 with one more death, according to the Bangladesh Doctors’ Foundation.
Meanwhile, 31 stranded Pakistanis left the country in a chartered flight arranged by the Pakistan High Commission.
