NMU VC passes away due to coronavirus

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid expressed deep grief and sorrow at the demise of Dr Pasha

Nishtar Medical University (NMU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Mustafa Kamal Pasha has passed away due to coronavirus.

The NMU vice chancellor, who was infected by the coronavirus, died at 5am on Wednesday at the Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi Institute of Cardiology.

Dr Pasha completed his MBBS from Nishtar Medical College in 1979 with a gold medal. Dr Pasha was appointed as Head of Department of Surgery in Nishtar Medical College in 2013 and in 2017, he was appointed as the first regular Vice Chancellor of the NMU.

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid expressed deep grief and sorrow at the demise of Dr Pasha.

“Dr Pasha was a brave front line soldier in the battle against coronavirus,” she said. The minister maintained that the government had high regard for his services as he had worked very hard to facilitate Covid-19 patients in Multan.

Paying tribute to the late vice chancellor, the minister said, “Dr Pasha’s professional services and contributions will always be remembered as he was not just a person but an institution in himself.”
