Iraqi envoy, army chief discuss regional security, Covid-19 pandemic
Ambassador of Iraq Hamid Abbas Lafta has appreciated Pakistan's continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region, a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The envoy’s appreciation comes during his meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Wednesday.
According to the military's media wing, General Qamar, on the occasion, said that Pakistan values its brotherly relations with Iraq and also offered all possible assistance in development and security-related fields.
During the meeting matters of mutual interest including regional security issues and the Covid-19 pandemic were discussed.
On June 26, Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan Kuninori Matsuda had also praised Islamabad's role for peace and stability in the region.
During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation and measures to enhance bilateral cooperation were discussed.
The army chief appreciated Japan's contributions to Pakistan in the fight against Covid-19.
On June 23, a 10-member People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Medical Team, led by Major General Doctor Zhou Feihu, Chief of ICU Department, PLA General Hospital, visited GHQ in Rawalpindi.
The Chinese delegation re-assured Beijing’s continued support for Islamabad at all fora.
General Qamar expressed gratitude for China’s support related to immediate medical supplies and other assistance especially the visit by Chinese medical experts to help Pakistan fight the pandemic.
