‘Efforts afoot to uplift health sector’

NDMA is fully cooperating with the Balochistan government on tackling various problems

National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Afzal has said the capacity of hospitals in Balochistan has been enhanced following the Covid-19 pandemic, adding that all resources are being utilised to uplift the health sector in the province. The NDMA chairman shared these views while visiting Fatima Jinnah Chest Hospital and Bolan Medical Hospital on Tuesday and reviewed the arrangements regarding the coronavirus outbreak. “The coronavirus outbreak has been timely controlled by the efforts of federal and provincial governments, doctors, medical staff and officials of relevant agencies are playing the role of frontline soldiers in COVID-19 pandemic,” Lt Gen Afzal added. He paid tribute to frontline fighters against the novel coronavirus, stating that the entire nation appreciates their crucially important role during the prevailing pandemic. Commenting on Eid-ul-Azha, the chairman expressed optimism that people will take care of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Sharing his views on locust swarms crisis in the country, Lt Gen Afzal said that all possible steps are being taken to deal with the locust invasion challenge. “The provincial health department has improved its performance in a very short time to combat with virus. NDMA is fully cooperating with the Balochistan government on tackling various problems.”
