ANP lawmaker granted pre-arrest bail

The provincial assembly member appeared in person before the court along with her lawyer Tanveer Ahmed Mughal

ABBOTABAD:

A local court in Abbottabad on Monday granted pre-arrest bail for an opposition lawmaker in a case for allegedly having power metre installed on a property by using fake documents.

Abbottabad Additional District And Sessions Judge Syed Arif Shah on Monday heard a pre-arrest bail plea filed by Awami National Party lawmaker Samar Haroon Bilour. The provincial assembly member appeared in person before the court along with her lawyer Tanveer Ahmed Mughal.

Samar had been named in a first information report (FIR) registered at the Dongagali police station on July 1 by Ahmed Ali Tanoli. In his complaint, Tanoli had claimed that he had possession of the Bilour House in the scenic hill station, having bought it two years ago. However, he claimed that the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) had installed an electricity meter at the eight Kanal and four marla property in Samar’s name based on fake documents while a power metre already installed in his name was removed.
