PESHAWAR:

Ajmal Wazir, sacked Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government's spokesperson, has termed the leaked audio clip heavily edited in which he can be purportedly heard accepting kickbacks from the representative of an advertising company.

In a statement on Sunday, he said that a conspiracy was hatched against him to oust him from the provincial government.

Wazir said in line with the Prime Minister Imran Khan's vision of accountability he would face the charges and get his name cleared. "Fake audio tape was created by editing various meetings and briefings."

The former spokesperson said as per the Information Department rules and regulations chairman of the steering committee heads the portfolio of information ministry which according to him is headed by K-P health minister.

Wazir went on to say that as an honorary member of the committee he had no decision-making power and the matter is purely falls into the jurisdiction of health department advertisement chairman.

A day earlier, K-P Chief Minister Mehmood Khan removed Wazir following the allegations, who was serving as his adviser on information and public relations.

In a controversial leaked audio clip, the representative of the advertisement company offered Wazir 10 per cent commission in return for waiver on taxes on the government's advertisement payment.

Adviser to K-P CM on Local Bodies and Rural Development Kamran Bangash was given the additional portfolio of information adviser after Wazir's removal.
