Fed up of responsibilities, aunt tortures niece

A four-year-old girl was tortured by her aunt in Nishtar Town. The accused confessed to the crime before the police.

Accused Nimra said in a statement to the investigating officer that Mehak’s mother had left her home two years ago. She said she was fed up with the responsibilities of the girl and that was why she had tortured her.

Police reached the spot on receiving a report that the minor girl, who was a resident of Bank Stop area, had been tortured.

During interrogation, it was found that her aunt used to torture her and keep her locked in a room. The police registered a case on the complaint of ASI Abbas Ali Shakir who had reached the spot and arrested the accused.

According to Ejaz Rasool, Investigation In-charge of Nishtar Colony Police Station, the accused said the girl’s father Kashif was addicted to drugs and had left her at her grandfather’s house. After this the responsibility of taking care of the girl came upon her, which she was very tired of, she said. The accused further said that she used to lock the girl in a room and burn her with a hot knife.

The police handed over the girl to the Child Protection Bureau after her medical examination. The investigation official said six burn marks had been found on the girl’s body according to the medical report.
