Rawalpindi police offer free cup of coffee to driving licence applicants

The City Traffic Police of Rawalpindi is offering a free cup of coffee to the candidates applying for driving licences using its "state-of-the-art system" in a bid to improve its relationship with citizens.

Senior police official, RPO Dr Sohail Tajik told The Express Tribune on Saturday that a new modern system has been introduced which has made the procedure of acquiring driving licences fast and hassle-free.

"All the traditional procedures including nepotism culture have been abolished and now those who want to acquire a driving licence can book an appointment before visiting the office," he added.

The latest system, police official said is free of paper work and there is no need to submit any photograph or post office ticket anymore.

He said the only formalities are now to pay the official fee for the driving license and submit a copy of Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC).

The RPO said the traffic police officials are trying their best to facilitate the citizens in the best possible way and a free cup of coffee initiative is part of their efforts.
