HESCO lambasted for outages

Electricity feeders consistently tripped even after light rain

HYDERABAD:

Expressing dismay over recent power outages amid the raid, Hyderabad commissioner Muhammad Abbass Baloch criticised the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), pointing out that its electricity feeders consistently tripped even after light rain, creating water shortages and drainage problems. At a meeting with HESCO officials on Thursday, he told them to avoid power cuts during the rain and also to share the load-shedding schedule with the relevant departments of the provincial government. Meanwhile, deputy commissioner Fuad Ghaffar Soomro said that load-shedding should be reduced in feeders powering the Water and Sanitation Agency pumping stations.
