Three girls drown in Indus River

Deceased were aged between nine and 12 years

Three minor girls downed while bathing in Indus River near Mithiani on Tuesday. The deceased were identified as Saiqa Bhart, Hina Bhart and Sana Bhart, aged between nine and 12 years. The bodies were recovered by villagers and shifted to a hospital, where they were handed over to the heirs after the completion of medico-legal formalities. Of late, a rise has been observed in the incidents of drowning, most notable of which was reported on June 5 when seven children drowned in Indus River in Thatta. The children, including three girls and four boys, were bathing in the river to escape the heat.
