Workshop on crimes against journalists

The workshop organised by PCHR and Peace and Justice Network in collaboration with Islamabad police

ISLAMABAD:

Islamabad police on Wednesday held a workshop to sensitise officials about reporting crimes against journalists. Police personnel especially Moharras, the officials who record statements and write down the FIRs, were participants of the workshop organised by Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights (PCHR) and Peace and Justice Network in collaboration with Islamabad police at the Police Lines Headquarters. Respect of human rights and fundamental freedoms guaranteed in Constitution of Pakistan is the corner stone of policing policies of the Islamabad police, said IGP Aamir Zulfiqar said at the workshop. “Islamabad police acknowledges the important role of journalists in representing the people and therefore attaches high importance to their safety and protection,” IGP Zulfiqar said.
