Bid to smuggle narcotics foiled
The Crime Investing Agency (CIA) of the Islamabad Police on Monday thwarted an attempt to smuggle narcotics, arresting two and recovering a large cache of drugs from their possession.
Following orders from the Inspector General of Islamabad Police (IGP) Aamir Zulfiqar Khan and DIG Operations Waqaruddin Syed, SP Investigation Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer constituted a special anti-drug team under the supervision of DSP Hakim Khan.
They intercepted and arrested two suspected drug pushers from Chungi No. 26 and the Tarnol railway crossing respectively, recovering 5.095 kilogrammes of hashish from them.
The two suspects were identified as Imran and Isfahan alias Kaka. During questioning, both confessed to smuggling narcotics from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to Islamabad and thereafter to various cities in Punjab.
