PESHAWAR:

To honour all those fighting on the frontlines against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, the provincial government has announced that it will build a monument to pay tribute to them.

Special Assistant to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister for Local Government Kamran Bangash, in a statement on Monday, said that it is important to remember the sacrifices of those who have sacrificed for the nation.

The monument, he said, will pay respect to the services of all heroes including police, journalists and medical staffers fighting the pandemic.

Students, professionals, institutions and the general public have been asked to submit their designs for the monument, the special assistant added.

He said a committee will be formed which will select the design of the monument which best represents its objectives. Once the design is selected, it will be built by the private sector.

The special assistant added that design ideas can be sent to the Local Government Department through email or by post by July 25.
