RAWALPINDI:

At least five civilians, including two young boys and two elderly women, were injured in unprovoked Indian firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Kashmir, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The incident occurred in the Nikial sector of the LoC on Sunday night.

The military media wing added that Pakistan Army troops responded effectively to the Indian aggression.

Earlier, on July 1, Indian Army had initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation along the LoC, killing a resident of Talwari village.

The ISPR spokesperson said a young boy was martyred due to indiscriminate firing by the Indian armed forces.

On July 2, Foreign Office spokesperson Aisha Farooqui had condemned Indian security forces’ unabated ceasefire violations along the LoC.

She added that in the first six months of 2020, 1,546 ceasefire violations occurred, resulting in the martyrdom of 14 innocent civilians and serious injuries to 114 others.
