Attock confirms 454 Covid infections in 100 days
As many as 13 new novel coronavirus (Covid-19) positive cases were reported from Attock on Sunday, taking the total number of confirmed cases in the district to 454. Meanwhile, at least one person died of associated complications.
Attock Focal Person for Covid-19 Dr Asif Arbab Niazi on Sunday said that of the 13 new cases reported in the district in the past 24 hours, nine belong to Attock city, three to Hazro and one to Fatehjang.
While so far 454 people have contracted the virus in the district, he said that the number of active patients is at 159.
The fatality, he said, was of a 65-year-old woman who was a native of the Wessa village in Hazro. He added that she had been buried by the special task force of Rescue 1122 under the Covid-19 protocols issued by the government.
Niazi further said that as many as 7,172 people have been screened in the district so far of which 2,822 had tested negative for the viral disease while the number of suspected Covid-19 cases in the district has increased to 3,591. The results of as many as 315 suspected Covid-19 patients are still awaited.
Of those infected, he said that 10 are receiving treatment at different hospitals while 149 are isolated at their homes. As many as 248 people have so far made a complete recovery from the virus.
Tribute paid
The Attock district administration on Sunday paid tribute to the health workers and other government employees such as police and rescue officials, who have been performing their duties on the frontlines against Covid-19.
