On the directives of the provincial chief secretary, the Balochistan Food Authority has initiated a crackdown against sale of artificial plastic eggs in shops on Toghi Road, Alamdar Road and in other areas of Quetta.
Artificial eggs made of plastic and chemicals were recovered from various egg-selling centres on Friday in the provincial capital.
The samples were obtained and dispatched to laboratories on immediate basis for chemical analysis. During the raids, the food authority sealed five shops while two people were handed over to the police.
Balochistan Food Authority Director General Ibrahim Baloch said that action would be initiated against centres and people involved in the business after receiving laboratory report of the eggs.
