4,878 lawbreakers caught in June

The Lahore police operations wing claimed to have arrested as many as 4,878 lawbreakers during an operation against criminals in the provincial capital during June. As per an official report, Lahore police caught 240 members of 99 gangs of robbers and recovered more than Rs30 million from their possession during the month. During an operation against illegal weapons, the police arrested as many as 578 suspected criminals and seized 24 rifles, two Kalashnikovs, 30 guns, 530 revolvers and pistols as well as thousands of bullets from their possession. During an anti-narcotics drive, more than seven kilogrammes of heroin, 204kg of hashish, 17kg of opium, 78 grammes of Ice and 6,057 litres of liquor were seized from 669 accused. Moreover, over Rs1.313 million was recovered from 486 outlaws during a crackdown against gambling. Lahore police also arrested 134 suspected criminals during actions against brothels in the city. In addition to this, 402 proclaimed offenders of Category A and Category B, involved in cases of theft, cheque dishonour, fraud and other crimes were arrested along with 400 court absconders. As many as 1,969 lawbreakers were arrested for one wheeling, kite flying, firing, begging, profiteering, and violating laws related to rent, foreigners and use of loudspeaker.
