LAHORE:

At least 10 people were killed whereas 827 sustained injuries in 780 road traffic crashes (RTC) in Punjab during the last 24 hours.

Out of the total injured, 461 people were shifted to different hospitals whereas 366 were treated at the sites by Rescue Medical Teams.

The majority of the accidents, around 68 per cent, involved motorcycles. The analysis showed that 349 adult and 22 underage drivers, 114 pedestrians and 374 passengers were among the victims of the RTCs.

The statistics revealed that 154 RTCs were reported in Lahore, which affected 155 persons, followed by 72 RTCs in Faisalabad with 76 victims and 54 RTCs with 56 victims in Multan. The 837 people affected by the accidents including 688 male and 149 female victims.

The age group of the victims showed that 148 of them were under 18 years of age, 462 were aged between 18 and 40 years and 227 were above 40 years of age.

According to the data, 670 motorcycles, 95 auto-rickshaws, 74 cars, 18 vans, three buses, 24 trucks and 98 other types of vehicles and carts were involved in the accidents.
