QUETTA:

Baloch Doctors Forum (BDF) representative Dr Hafeez Baloch on Thursday observed that despite the protest of students and employees of the Bolan Medical College (BMC) in front of the provincial assembly for the past two weeks, the Balochistan government did not pay heed to their demands.

"This shows that the government representatives sitting in their homes are not serious in resolving this issue. The demands of students and staff of the university should be accepted at the earliest," he said, while addressing a gathering the other day at the Quetta Press Club.

Out of fear of losing their jobs and suspension of admissions, the employees and students of the BMC demand that college should be reinstated to its original status and instead of giving it the status of a university, a separate varsity should be established.

Dr Baloch noted that after the passage of an act in 2017, the BMC was attached to the university and all its employees were transferred to the varsity without their consent.

"The college should have continued its education and focused on post-graduation and research,” he said.

"The university administration is taking decisions that are discriminatory. It is granting admissions on self-finance which is a violation of court orders," he added.
