Stores sealed over dexamethasone sale

RAWALPINDI:

Drug control teams in the city on Thursday sealed three drug wholesalers for selling dexamethasone - a cortisone which is used for treating critical novel coronavirus (Covid-19) patients, without a drug license. Teams of the Rawalpindi Drug Control department inspected different pharmacies and wholesalers in the Bohar Bazaar on Thursday. They also checked stores buying and selling of dexamethasone medicine and their records for procuring and selling the medicine along with other medical equipment in high demand by those observing self-isolation at homes. During the inspection, the drug controllers sealed off shops of three wholesalers including Mubarak Traders, Al-Mansoor Traders, and United Friends Wholesalers for selling dexamethasone without permission. The officials further said that the related shops had violated the Drug Act 1976 owing to which they faced action.
