Two brothers partially blinded in acid attack

No case has been registered even 10 days after incident

KARACHI:

Two brothers were partially blinded in an alleged acid attack following a dispute over money in New Karachi, with the police refusing to register a case on the matter even 10 days after the attack.

The brothers, Kamran and Amir, reportedly lost an eye each in the incident, which occurred on June 20. Their brother, Sufyan, told The Express Tribune that his brothers were involved in a dispute over money with a shopkeeper, Abbas, who attacked them with the help of his employees.

“It has been 10 days since the incident but no case has been registered yet,” he added, voicing the belief that the police were supporting the culprits.

The police, on the other hand, claimed that a chemical was spilled during the scuffle and had injured the brothers. They added that a case would be registered after the medical report was finalised.

According to the police, both parties initially wanted to settle the issue, but if this failed, legal procedures would be taken further.
