PESHAWAR:

The Dhok Hussain gas field in Kohat will help earn Rs1 billion in revenues annually apart from opening the doors to development in the region.

This was stated by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Tuesday as he announced that a process to lay a 14-kilometre pipeline from the gas field to connect it to the main Sui Southern Gas Pipeline (SNGPL) supply line had been completed.

In a statement, CM Mahmood said that by providing 12 million cubic feet (MMCF) of gas daily to SNGPL, the province stands to earn a royalty of Rs800 million apart from Rs100 million as production bonus, in addition to Rs150 million for the K-P Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (K-POGCL) annually.

The chief minister added that the completion of the project is an important development, not only for the region but for the province and the entire country as well. CM Mahmood vowed that royalties earned from the gas field will be spent on the development of the gas-producing area, which will usher in a new era of development and prosperity in the region.
