KARACHI:

The tanker, on the way to the deliver water to a house on Gulshan-e-Ghazi, Baldia Town, contained 1,500 gallons of water, booked by a woman, Fahmeeda, for Rs1,200. Some unidentified burqa-clad persons intercepted it while on the way to Fahmeeda’s house from the Saeedabad hydrant and opened its valves, wasting all the water it contained.
According to Fahmeeda, they said that they wouldn’t let anyone buy water for their homes since there was a water shortage in their neighbourhood. They further said they would empty every other tanker of water they came across, narrated Fahmeeda.
With electricity supply being suspended to pumping stations for long hours in Karachi, the city is facing a water shortage.
