DMG officers yet to get magisterial powers
Punjab government had issued a notification earlier in June
RAWALPINDI:
Despite announcing the restoration of the magistrate system across the province, the provincial government has yet to issue the final circular which would bring it into force.
The Punjab government had issued a notification earlier in June whereby officers of the district management group (DMG) would be given magisterial powers.
However, sources said that the provincial government stopped just short of completing the legal formalities for the move, failing to issue a circular binding the related authorities for enforcing the system.
Hence, officials told The Express Tribune that deputy commissioners (DCs) and additional deputy commissioners (ADCs) cannot use the magisterial powers which have been notified.
