"About 800 people have been the victims of violent shootings in the last seven months," Zohra Yusuf, chairwoman of the HRCP, told AFP.
The HRCP previously said 490 people were killed in the first six months of the year and on Friday that another 300 people died in July.

"The figures compiled by our staff and the death toll for the last month confirmed by the police shows the number of victims of violence was not less than 300," Yusuf said.
The government has campaigned to end the clashes and deployed hundreds of additional police and paramilitary forces in the city, but the killings have continued with 58 people reported dead in five days alone this week.

HCRP says the violence in Karachi is the deadliest since 1995, when more than 900 killings were reported in the first half of the year.

Yup, these 800 were not chickens that were slaughtered but humans. Allah wont help if we don't help ourselves. Karachi has been the swat but we never realized it.
We don't need any Hitler, Sharon, Saddam or Halaku Khan!
Only God can help this country now.
So how high does the number have to get before the government determines that the time for talking is past and the time for governing has come?
Where are you mr bilawal when your nation needs you the most? Indeed democracy is the best revenge against the people of Pakistan :(
I don't see any explanation for this nonsense, either, the authorities are incompetent or complicit. With the powers and resources available , peace can be restored back in couple of days. Why are these morons letting the city burn and lives lost?
Lets change the mood of Karachiites
No democracy and leader is going to refine problems like these, but the very people of Pakistan. In order to flourish a friendly atmosphere we need to accept others around us regardless of ethnic background, we have to feel a sense of responsibility, and we must abolish hate.
BLUNTEY: All political parties in khi are to blame for this, every vote for them is a bullet fired
4 months still to go! God help us! Ameen!
And Kashmir is a core issue for Pakistan

The city of lights is more of a jungle now.
I think pakistan was much better when it was under dictatorship. Atleast people were much safer than during democracy. Democracy should strengthen state, but here it weaken the state. As a neighbour, the main problem that i noticed is, too many people have too many power in pakistan. This weakens the system, and everyone misuse the system for their own political mileage. The only way forward to restrcuture the consituttion, and have onus of power to presdient or prime minister, and federals states should be held accountable to central governance. This will not overcome corruption ( as we see in India ), however, the system will be gradually improved, and no one claim complete power and control the system.as and when you bring independent ombudsman like anit corruption agency, you could bring down corruption drastically. The best case study was Hong kong, when british left HK, it was completely corrupted state with too many have vested interest, but they brought in various changes and improved systems and bring anti corruption agency today its ranked top nation with least corruption states.
Any how RIP to all those victims.
This is what will happens with dictatorship or pseudo democracy. Its high time Pakistani civilians understand the importance robust democracy and its values. It will teach you tolerance and gives you equality, time sane civilians of Pakistan wakes up.
So what?
Human lives are priceless in Pakistan.
Even if 1600 people will be killed in one year, it will not make any difference on the Government of Pakistan.
This is extremely sad. Is this the cost of democracy?. "800 people have been the victims of violent shootings in the last seven months" Why not have a judicial inquiry into this state of affairs. And make public the report.
Its like a war region...shame to all political parties...
I am tempted to say that I would feel safer in a tribal area
