KARACHI:
Two of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) MPA Sadaqat Hussain's brothers-in-law were shot and injured during firing outside the lawmaker's residence in Orangi Town, in the limits of Pakistan Bazaar Police Station, late Monday night.

A case against two unidentified men has been registered at Pakistan Bazaar Police Station on behalf of Hussain.

According to Pakistan Bazaar SHO Iqbal Tunio, each of the MPA's relatives sustained a bullet wound in their leg.

Talking to The Express Tribune, MPA Hussain related that he was outside his residence meeting a citizen who had come for the verification of his house's property documents.

"I went inside my house to get the stamp for verification but rushed back outside when I heard gunshots," he said, adding that his brothers-in-law, 35-year-old Shaheen Jamal (sister's husband) and 36-year-old Muhammad Yousuf (wife's brother), were injured in the shooting.

Both of them were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment, the MPA said.

They later told police they were shot by two men on a motorcycle. Speaking on the matter, MQM-P convener Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui condemned the firing incident and expressed concern. He has demanded of authorities to arrest the persons responsible for the shooting and take them to task on priority basis.

Siddiqui went on to criticise the Sindh government over the incident, maintaining that "the occurrence of such incidents was evident of its inefficiency."
