PCO judges verdict should be implemented in letter and spirit: CJ

Babar Awan says summary to de-notify PCO judges sent to relevant authorities.

ISLAMABAD:
Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that the verdict in the PCO judges case should be implemented in letter and spirit, Express 24/7 reported on Friday.

The statement comes after a five-member larger Supreme Court bench directed the law secretary to de-notify PCO judges by August 9.

During the hearing of the case, former law minister Babar Awan informed the court that a summary to de-notify PCO judges had been sent to the relevant authorities.

The chief justice said that no such summary was needed and a notification regarding PCO Judges should be issued today.

Law Division Secretary Masood Chishti and Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq also appeared before the bench.

The hearing has been adjourned until Tuesday.
