QUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan Jam Kamal on Monday directed health authorities to finalise preparations to establish new labs across Balochistan, ordering district level Covid-19 testing.

The decision was taken during a high-level meeting held at Chief Minister House presided over by CM Kamal in order to review provincial government’s efforts against the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The provincial chief executive stressed upon implementation on decisions being taken in government meetings following the prevailing pandemic.

Chief Secretary Balcohistan capt (retd) Fazeel Asghar, Secretary of Health Dostain Jamaldini, DG Health Dr. Saleem Abro, Commissioner Quetta Division Usman Ali Khan, IG Police Mohsin Hassan Butt, AIG Abdul Razzaq Cheema and other government officials were present in the meeting.

The chief minister expressed deep concerns over the rapid spread of coronavirus in Quetta, urging citizens of Quetta to pursue Standard Operating Procedures set to curb the spread of the contagious virus.

The Balochistan government has decided to unveil new strict decisions following exploding Covid-19 cases and reported deaths in the capital.

The meeting also decided to implement on a nutrition and food packaging programme for positive patients unable to get healthy food items after being isolated in homes.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) informed the CM that people are unable to purchase healthy food items.
