USC to lift sugar from Tareen’s mills
Commodity purchased at rate of Rs67/kg two-and-a-half months ago
ISLAMABAD:
The Utility Stores Corporation (USC) on Saturday decided to lift sugar purchased from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) stalwart Jehangir Tareen’s mills a few months.
The commodity will be sold at a price of Rs68 per kilogramme.
While talking to The Express Tribune, USC Managing Director Umar Lodhi said that the sugar had been purchased at a low rate from the Tareen sugar mills two-and-a-half months ago.
Sugar price remains at high levels
“Jehangir Tareen had sold 20,000 tonnes of sugar at a price of Rs67/kg. The commodity will be lifted from Monday,” Lodhi said.
He further noted that until now, 14,000 tonnes of the USC sugar was kept with the Jehangir Tareen Sugar Mills and agreements had been signed with different companies for the lifting of the commodity.
Meanwhile, the supply of wheat has started at the utility stores. The commodity had been acquired from Pasco and supplied to the mills for processing.
The shortage of wheat at the utility stores will be overcome in the next two days. It will be sold at a subsidised rate of Rs800/20kg bag.
