As per CTD officials, Ameer has been an active member of MQM-L’s machinery in Qasba Aligarh and a part of its target killing wing, involved in the murders of at least six people, including a police official, as well as several attacks on police and purchase of weapons for other party workers. The brother of a former MQM sector in-charge and MPA, he was wanted in several cases.

Shahid, too, was said to be a part of MQM-L’s target killing wing and a close associate of MQM Pak Colony sector in-charge Dilawar.

According to the statement issued by the CTD, the party had assigned him to conduct recce of police and Rangers mobiles in Pak Colony and pass on the information to the party’s unit and sector in-charges, allowing affiliated criminals to avoid arrest. Shahid also reportedly collected and relayed information about other political party members visiting the area to the sector-incharge, who would then have them killed or abducted.
