CTD registers case for Rangers attack
Suspects threw hand grenade at Rangers' mobile parked outside Ehsaas facility in Karachi

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) registered a case for the grenade attack on a Rangers vehicle in Liaquatabad on Saturday.
As many as five suspects have been nominated in the case registered on behalf of CTD additional SHO Abid Ali under Sections 302, 324, 353 and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code, the Explosives Act and Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997, pertaining to murder, attempted murder and other crimes.
The suspects allegedly threw a hand grenade at a Ranger mobile parked outside an Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme office in Liaquatabad and fled. As a result of the blast, a man, identified as Muhammad Kashif, was killed and eight others, including a Rangers official, were injured.
In his statement in the FIR, Ali said he saw two men standing on Liaquatabad Flyover and three others on motorcycles parked alongside the bridge's left fence while visiting the Ehsaas Programme office at around 11.15am on Saturday. Describing their appearance, he said that they were dressed in pants, shirts and shalwar kameez, adding that he saw one among them throwing an object from the flyover, causing an explosion.
When police officials present at the location chased the attackers, the suspects opened fire on them. According to Ali, the police retaliated, but the attackers were able to flee as a result of heavy traffic.
