The chief commissioner presided over a meeting on Friday. The meeting discussed the issues surrounding prices, quality and availability of medicines and medical supplies.
The chief commissioner emphasised on improving the quality and availability of medicines in order to ensure relief for the citizens. Commissioner Ahmed directed the deputy commissioner and other concerned officials to monitor the prices of oxygen and other related medical equipment and said that action should be taken against those who stockpile life-saving drugs and other essential items.
Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat and DRAP officials assured implementation of these orders. The chief commissioner said that a strategy has been prepared for supply of oxygen in residential areas.
A facility centre consisting of 20 oxygen machines has been set up with the help of philanthropists at the commissioner office.
