RAWALPINDI:
City traders on Friday demanded the Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mehmood to shift wholesale markets to the areas designated around the proposed Ring Road project.

Traders Welfare Association President Sharjeel Mir leading the traders’ delegation met Commissioner Mahmood at his office and conveyed their concern regarding growing traffic congestion.

He said that Rawalpindi was the supply hub of commodities to Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. However, traders were facing problems in transporting goods due to traffic congestion. Therefore, wholesale markets should be moved outside the city.
