Sugar selling at Rs70 in Attock: DC

government is making efforts to solve the problems being faced by the people

As the country reels through a sugar crisis with the price of commodity soaring above Rs85 in the market, Attock Deputy Commissioner Ali Anan Qamar told a meeting that the sweetener is selling on official rate of Rs70 per kilogramme in the district.

Briefing a meeting chaired by Rawalpindi Commissioner Muhammad Mahmood, he said that wheat purchase target has been achieved while Rs4.7 million worth of fine has been imposed on those involved in illegal profiteering.

Sugar price remains at high levels


Commissioner Mahmood said that the government was making efforts through district and tehsil administration to solve the problems being faced by the people.

He said that no compromise would be made on quality of work in development schemes. Implementation of coronavirus SOPs must be ensured while steps be taken to control illegal profiteering, he said.

Attock DC Qamar in his briefing said that at present there were 344 coronavirus patients in the district who are kept in hospitals and in quarantine centres. He said that at present 209 development schemes were under completion at the cost of Rs334.668 million.
