QUETTA:
Traffic remained suspended between Quetta and Karachi as transporters blocked the National Highway at Lasbela by parking their buses and coaches on Wednesday.

Thousands of passengers, including women and children travelling in the buses and coaches faced difficulties due to the scorching weather. Hundreds of buses, coaches, trucks and other vehicles coming from Karachi and Quetta remained stranded at the both sides of the national highway.

The drivers refused to remove their vehicles from the main highway when local administration tried to clear the road for resuming traffic. They alleged that levies, police and other law enforcement agencies have established their check post where they were illegally stopping buses and coaches for checking in the name of implementation of SOPs issued by the home department.

“We are fully implementing SOPs issued by the government for resuming transport in the province after two and half months,” Imtiaz Ahmed, a representative of the transporters said.
