CPEC chairman says pace of project increased, scope enhanced

He says detractors are giving a false impression that project has slowed down

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority Chairman Lt General (rtd) Asim Saleem Bajwa on Wednesday said the pace of work on the project has recently picked up and the scope of the project has enhanced.

The chairman took to microblogging website Twitter and said a great deal of groundwork has been done to launch phase two of the project.

He said detractors are giving a false impression that the project has slowed down.

"Not only pace of work on projects picked up recently, a great deal groundwork has been done to launch phase 2," he clarified.

The CPEC chairman added that the upcoming projects include $7.2 billion ML-1, two hydel power projects investing $3.5 billion, special economic zones (SEZs) and agricultural projects.
