‘Smart lockdown’ to stem rising tide of Covid-19
Meeting decides to seal 17 virus hotspots, eight markets

After the increase in the number of patients infected with coronavirus, preparations for a smart lockdown were started in Faisalabad on Tuesday, as a similar decision regarding the provincial capital was implemented.
An emergency meeting of the district administration also decided to seal off 17 areas most affected by coronavirus and eight markets around the Clocktower Chowk.
The number of patients in each of these areas was above 50.
In Faisalabad, the number of patients infected with coronavirus exceeds 3,800 with 2,793 active cases, including 153 doctors and paramedical staff, as well as six journalists.
The death toll from the coronavirus has risen to 92, according to the health department.
The lockdown in specific areas of Faisalabad will be implemented from midnight on Wednesday.
The district administration had earlier decided to seal 25 areas in 14 union councils in the light of the orders of the Punjab government under a strategy of smart lockdown.
The areas to be sealed in various phases under smart lockdown strategy include Raza Garden, Eden Garden, Abdullah Garden, Sitara Colony, Model Town, Muslim Town B Block, Rajewala, Sitara Sapna, Ideal Colony, Khayaban Garden, Muslim Town, Lasani Pali, Green Town, Usman Town, Muslim Town No 1, Noorpur, Aqsa Town and Crescent Mill.
Similarly, the lockdown will be implemented in Mohalla Shadab, Rehmanpura, Faisal Garden, Canal Garden, Amin Town, Gulistan Colony No 2, Taj Colony, Bole Di Jhugi, Islamnagar, New Civil Lines, Hajveri Town, Naghbanpura, Chaban, Saeed Colony, Khayaban No 2, Officers Colony No 1 and No 2.
Moreover, Madina Town, People's Colony No 1 and No 2, Al Najaf Colony, Fatehabad East, Gilanipura, Jhal, Batala Colony, Sohailabad, Sharifpura, Hussain Shaheed Colony, Muhammad Abad, Al Fayyaz Colony, Rachna Town, Hareem Town, Rabbani Colony, Allama Iqbal Colony, Waris Pura, Iqbal Nagar and Dastagir Pura will also be sealed.
Other areas include Daud Nagar, Nawaz Park, Farooqabad, Amjadabad, Shalimar Park, D Type, Shadipura, Koriyan, Alipura, Nisar Colony, Satellite Town, Samanabad, Samosa Colony, Muzaffar Colony, Aminabad, Gaushala, Nazimabad, Premier Colony, Rahmania Town, Jatanwala Chowk, Adam Chowk, Mohammadi Chowk, Madina Chowk, Mujadidi Park, GM Abad, Block A, Razaabad, Munirabad and Gulshan.
Access to these areas would be completely closed with barriers at the entry and exit points.
