Covid-19 claims 62 more lives in Punjab

Over 1,500 new cases reported in past 24 hours

The Covid-19 pandemic has taken 62 more lives in Punjab, while the number of patients crossed 54,000 after the registration of 1,537 new cases during the last 24 hours.

A spokesperson for the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department said at noon on Monday that the total number of deaths in the province was recorded at 1,031 with recoveries totaling 17,710 persons.

As many as 932 new cases of Covid-19 were registered in the provincial capital, 115 in Faisalabad, 102 in Rawalpindi, 17 in Kasur, 10 in Sheikhupura, five in Jhelum, 22 in Gujranwala, three in Narowal, 47 in Gujrat, 10 in Hafizabad, five in Mandi Bahauddin, 71 in Multan, two in Khanewal, 10 in Vehari and 26 in Muzaffargarh.


Meanwhile, six cases were reportd in Chiniot, 13 in Toba Tek Singh, three in Jhang, nine in Rahim Yar Khan, 23 in Sargodha, 32 in Mianwali, two in Layyah, five in Bhakkar, 20 in Bahawalpur, eight in Dera Ghazi Khan, six in Okara, 22 in Sahiwal, two in Pakpattan and one each in Bahawalnagar, Lodhran and Rajanpur during the 24 hours.

The Punjab Health Department has conducted 356,678 coronavirus tests so far. Citizens were advised to follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set for their safety by wearing face masks, washing hands with soap several times a day and maintaining physical distance. Along with SOPs, citizens were also advised to contact helpline 1033 immediately on noting symptoms of coronavirus among persons in their proximity.
