KARACHI:
Caterers, decorators and others working in affiliation with these sectors, including waiters, electricians, carpenters and photographers, took to the streets on Sunday, demanding that the be allowed to resume business.

Assembled on the call of the All Karachi Caterers and Decorators Association (AKCDA), they blocked roads with empty cauldrons to register their protest and shouted slogans, bewailing that they were finding it hard to make ends meet due to the restriction on wedding ceremonies amid the lockdown.

Aggrieved, the protesters questioned why they were being deprived of their source of income when all other sectors were allowed to function, saying that the lockdown had turned out to be a nightmare for them.

They moved the government to allow marriage halls to reopen, warning that if their demand remained unmet, they would march towards the Chief Minister's House and would even stop paying taxes and utility bills.
