FAISALABAD:
A man strangled to death his 12-year-old son in the area of Mamunkanjan to fulfill his second wife's wish.

Police claimed to have arrested the accused father and registered a case against his six in-laws, including his second wife. A case was filed in the police station by Shahnaz Bibi, a resident of Chak No 53/2.

Sources told The Express Tribune that the man identified as Shaukat Ali, 45, remarried six years ago. His second wife Shahnaz did not like her 12-year-old stepson Waris and demanded that Ali kill his son. Reportedly, she also demanded that Ali transfer two-kanal land in her name as a condition for reconciliation.

Locals of the area, where the incident took place, said Ali came to his house and told his son that they were going to the market to purchase some clothes. However, the accused took his son to a nearby field where he strangled him to death.

“On Friday, after my son went missing, I approached the neighbours to inquire about him. The notables interrogated Ali who confessed to killing Waris with the help of his second wife and her relatives,” said Ali’s first wife.  Police arrested the accused and registered a case against him and remanded him in custody.

Police officials said the victim was first married to his cousin Shahnaz who later married again with the permission of his first wife.
