Police impound DHO’s vehicle
Dr Memon's son, Sajan, was wanted for abusing Mohsin Safi Khatri
KARACHI:
The police impounded the official vehicle of Thatta district health officer (DHO) Dr Hanif Memon on Saturday, after it emerged that Memon's son had used the car while harassing a mentally ill youth.
Dr Memon's son, Sajan, was wanted for abusing Mohsin Safi Khatri. During a raid at Dr Memon's house to arrest his son, police found the vehicle.
On Tuesday, Sajan, along with his friends, took Khatri in the father's vehicle and harassed him while swimming in a water canal near Gujo town. The culprits also filmed the incident, in which Khatri could be seen crying as the others enjoyed his helplessness. A vehicle with a green license plate was visible in the footage.
A case was lodged by Khatri's uncle, Moin Alam, against Sajan and his friends, Amir Memon, Zahid Khadai, Murtaza Khushk, and Naeem Jokhio. He claimed that they detained his nephew, fleeing when Khatri's family arrived.
Speaking to The Express Tribune, Thatta SSP Dr Imran Khan said that two culprits nominated in the case have been arrested so far.
