Arts council resumes activities
In first phase, an exhibition has been organised at Al-Hamra Art Gallery
LAHORE:
The Lahore Arts Council (LAC) has started art activities with precautionary measures amid the coronavirus pandemic.
As coronavirus has seriously affected sports activities around the world, other fields of fine arts have also been severely affected.
In the first phase, reportedly, an exhibition of works of art has been organised at Al-Hamra Art Gallery while in the next phase, work will be done on some online projects.
In this regard, Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Saman Roy said that there are problems due to coronavirus but we have planned some new projects by taking precautions which will produce better results.
“Our organisation has always provided people with better means of entertainment and we will try to keep it going,” said the arts council director. Regarding the students studying various arts in LAC, Roy said they would also be made a part of the online training programmes.
Speaking about the post corona plans, Senior Actor Firdous Jamal said, “The lockdown has eased but no one, including me, has any plans for the future.”
Jamal highlighted that his department is very different from other departments. “It is not about hiding an artist, it is about showing off your work in front of the camera,” he said.
“Apart from this, they have to shoot scenes as per the demand of the story so nothing can be said yet,” he remarked.
“Showbiz activities are completely closed even after the easing of lockdown where work has started in all fields of life but stage plays have not yet been allowed,” said the senior actor.
Producer of stage dramas Qaiser Sanaullah Khan stated that when it comes to the theater industry, artists and producers associated with stage dramas do not get positive results despite meetings with top government figures. “Now we have approached the Supreme Court,” he said.
