AYUBIA:
As the government works on setting up integrated tourism zones across the province, work to build a road to serve a key tourist destination in the Galiyat region is expected to commence in the next fiscal year, officials said on Thursday.

As part of the Integrated Tourism Zones being built in the Hazara division, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government had approved the construction of the Thandiani Road. The road will serve the integrated zone in Thandiani. This is one of the four integrated tourism zones approved for construction in the province.

Pakistan should focus on urban tourism

Officials of the Galiyat Development Authority (GDA), who initiated the projects and have been assisting its development, said that the road project is estimated to cost around Rs480 million and will be funded by the World Bank. The 24 kilometre-long road will stretch from the town to the heart of the integrated tourism zone.

The officials said that the design of the road is expected to be completed by the end of July 2020 while tenders for groundwork will be issued in August 2020.

Officials said that the project aims to create opportunities for responsible tourism, benefiting the local population and the government by generating economic activity and creating jobs.
