Emma Watson responds to J.K. Rowling's transphobic comments
Earlier, her 'Harry Potter' co-star Daniel Radcliffe also voiced his opinion against the author's remarks
Harry Potter author JK Rowling was recently called out for recent tweets which many believed were “anti-transgender” in nature. People even accused her of being a “transphobe.”
After Harry Potter alum Daniel Radcliffe apologised on Rowling's behalf for her hurtful remarks, his film sidekick, Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger, has also stepped in.
J.K. Rowling in hot waters once again after transphobic remarks
Watson took to Twitter to voice her thoughts, first retweeting another user's reply to Rowling. "Hi everyone, just a quick note to say that if you'd like to donate to organisations that support black trans women – who are having an especially tough time at the moment, and facing hostility from every direction, Vice has compiled a list," read the tweet.
She went on to tweet her support to trans men and women, writing, "Trans people are who they say they are and deserve to live their lives without being constantly questioned or told they aren’t who they say they are."
She then added that she wants her "trans followers to know that I and so many other people around the world see you, respect you and love you for who you are." She also shared that she will be donating to two different charities.

"Happy Pride 2020! Sending love x," she added at the end.
As earlier mentioned, Radcliffe has also voiced his opinion on The Trevor Project, saying, "Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I."
Here's hoping that there's more understanding of trans identities from here on.
