Pindi admin warns of urban flooding
The directions came after the Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted heavy pre-monsoon rains this year

The Rawalpindi district administration has directed different institutions and departments to take adequate measures against possible urban flooding before the monsoon season starts in the city.
The directions came after the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted heavy pre-monsoon rains this year. The PMD has said that the period from June 15 to July 14 has been declared as the pre-monsoon season, while the monsoon season will continue from July 15 to August 12.
Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Captain (retired) Anwarul Haq has directed the Rescue 1122, police, civil defence department (CDD), municipal bodies, health organisation, to prepare for flooding in the city.
In this regard, the DC further instructed to activate the flood warning system. Besides, the administration is also establishing a control room in the offices of the metropolitan municipal corporation while a central flood control room would be set up in the CDD office.
Haq has directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to desilt and clean the Nullah Leh along other storm drains in Rawalpindi.
Further, the Triple-1 brigade of the army will soon visit low-lying areas of the city along with the district officials.
