Panic was created when a cracker was thrown by unidentified miscreants exploded inside a private school on the Grand Trunk Road late on Tuesday. The subsequent explosion shattered several window panes and damaged the building's doors.
However, with the school closed due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, no casualties were reported.
Police officials said that soon after the incident, large contingents of police officers rushed to the site and cordoned it off.
They added that they have yet to establish the identity of the culprits who threw the cracker, adding that the school is run by a privately-owned foundation.
When asked, Mandra police station’s SHO confirmed the incident, adding that there were no casualties. He added that given the nature of the explosion, it has been deemed as terrorist activity and the CTD has launched an investigation into the matter.
